Yerköy

Yerköy is a Turkish city and a district with about 30,000 inhabitants, which belongs to the province of Yozgat in central Anatolia.

Geographically Yerköy is located about 40 km west of Yozgat, about 60 km south of Hattusa ( at Boğazkale ), the former capital of the Hittites, about 70 km north of the province Kirşehir and 180 km east of the Turkish capital Ankara.

The village was first established in 1925 as a village. With the construction of the railway line in 1930 Yerköy grew rapidly. 1935 Yerköy received the status of Bucak, ten years later to a district.
