The Yaroslav (Russian Еруслан ) is a river in the southeast of European Russia and a left tributary of the Volga.

Description

The river rises in the southwestern part of the Obschtschi - Syrt - ridge in the Saratov Oblast and flows in a southerly and southwesterly direction through the southern Saratov Oblast and the northeastern Volgograd Oblast. The 278 km long river flows about 50 km north- west of Pallassowka in the Volgograd reservoir.

In winter, the Yaroslav the end of November / beginning of December to early April, frozen, in the summer the river dries out temporarily. Therefore, it is unsuitable for shipping, which is partly brackish water however, is used for irrigation.
