Yerzhan Kazykhanov

Yerzhan Choseuly Qasychanow ( Kazakh Ержан Хозеұлы Қазыханов, Russian Ержан Хозеевич Казыханов / Yerzhan Chosejewitsch Kasychanow; born August 21, 1964 in Alma- Ata, Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh politician and former Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan.

Biography

He completed his education at the State University of Saint Petersburg from 1981 until 1987. Afterwards he visited in 1991, the Diplomatic Academy of the Foreign Ministry in Moscow and then the Foreign Service Training Institute in the Indian capital New Delhi. In 1993 he visited the Foreign Service Training Institute in Washington DC.

From 1989 to 1995 he was among other things, the first and second secretary for political affairs in the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.

Between 1995 and 2000 he was a consultant to the Permanent Mission of Kazakhstan to the United Nations in New York City. From 12 January 2009 Qasychanow Ambassador of Kazakhstan was in the Republic of Austria. On 11 April 2011, he was after the presidential election and the subsequent reshuffle new foreign minister of Kazakhstan.

Since 28 September 2012, he is an advisor to the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Qasychanow is married and has two children. He speaks Kazakh Russian, English and Arabic.
