Yevgeni Anatolyevich Popov

Yevgeny Anatoljevich Popov (Russian: Евгений Анатольевич Попов, scientific transliteration Evgenij Anatol'evič Popov, born January 5, 1946 in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia ) is a Russian prose writer.

Popov was active after his involvement in the literary almanac Metropol since 1979 in the Soviet Union in the so-called Underground. After his first literary success, to which he, inter alia, Vasily Schukschin had helped, he was expelled after seven months membership of the Writers' Union. He worked in his learned profession as a geologist, so he remained independent as a writer.

In 1980, an anthology of short stories by Popov out in an American exile publishing. Only after the perestroika his works were published in Russia again.

To date, Popov wrote over 200 short stories and four novels.
