Yevgeny Lukyanenko

Yevgeny Jurjewitsch Lukyanenko (Russian: Евгений Юрьевич Лукьяненко, English transcription: Evgeniy Lukyanenko, born 23 January 1985 in Slavjansk on the Kuban ) is a Russian pole vaulter. He was 2008 World Indoor champion.

The An incoming Krasnodar VS athlete jumped first time in 2003, the five meter mark. He rose steadily and had reached 5.60 meters in 2006. In 2007 he took part in the World Championships in Osaka and there improved his best performance to 5.81 meters, which he finished in sixth place. At the World Indoor Championships in Valencia in 2008 he crossed 5.90 meters and won the title. At a meeting in Bydgoszcz in July 2008, he managed to cross than 16 jumpers in the world, the six meter mark with 6.01 m. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing Lukyanenko jumped over 5.85 meters and won the silver medal behind the Australian Steve Hooker.

At a height of 1.90 m his competition weight is 80 kg.
