Yevhen Petrushevych

Yevhen Petrushevich (Ukrainian: Євген Петрушевич, Polish: Eugeniusz Petruszewicz; born June 3, 1863 in Busk, Galicia, now Ukraine; † August 29, 1940 in Berlin) was a lawyer and politician from Ukrainian Galicia. He was deputy chairman of the Ukrainian National Democratic Party (UNDP).

1907 to 1918 he was a member of the Austrian Imperial Council, deputy head of the Ukrainian Parlamantsklubs and the Ukrainian Parliamentary representative office in Vienna ( united all Ukrainian members of both houses of the Austrian parliament). In 1916, he dissolved the previous Chairman Dr. Lewyzkyj from both posts. 1910 Yevhen Petrushevich was also elected to the Galician parliament.

After the dissolution of Austria - Hungary elected him on 19 October 1918, the Ukrainian Constituent Assembly in Lviv as Chairman of the Ukrainian National Council, the provisional parliament of the newly formed West Ukrainian People's Republic, and therefore the de facto head of state. After the reunification of the Ukrainian People's Republic on 22 January 1919 and in the face caused by the Polish garrison state crisis put the Ukrainian National Council on 9 June 1919, the offices of its President and the head of government together and elected Petrushevich dictator of the Western region of the Ukrainian People's Republic.
