Seen Yewbarrow over Wast Water with Great Gable in the background

The Yewbarrow is a mountain in the Lake District, Cumbria, England. The Yewbarrow lies in Wasdale on the north- western end of Wast Water. The Yewbarrow lies to the west of the hamlet of Wasdale Head and rises 627 m above directly from the Wast Water lake, to which he, like drops steeply to the East and the West. To the north of the Yewbarrow on Stirrup Crag is connected to the Red Pike on a ridge.

The Mosedale Beck and Beck Lingmell flow on the east side of the Yewbarrow. The Overbeck flows on the west side of the mountain.

Due to the steep flanks of a climb to the Yewbarrow is difficult. It lends itself to a direct path from Wast Water, the alternative is to go along the Overbeck and then over the Stirrup Crag to the summit. The Yewbarrow can be used as the start or end of the Mosedale Horseshoe, a hiking trail that leads over Red Pike, Pillar Scoat fur and one of the side valleys of Wasdale, be used.
