Yi I

Yi I ( * 1536, † 1584) was a Korean philosopher and writer at the time of the Joseon Dynasty. He was Yi Hwang, Seong Hons, Jo Shiks contemporary, himself a great thinker. In addition, his mother Shin Saimdang was considered ideal mother image in Korea. He is often referred to by his nickname of Yi Yul - gok ( 이율곡 [ ijulgok ] ).
