Yiewsley and West Drayton Urban District

The Yiewsley and West Drayton Urban District was a district in the metropolitan area of the British capital London. It existed from 1911 to 1965 and was in the western part of the former county of Middlesex.

History

The villages of Yiewsley and West Drayton were originally Civil parishes that belonged to the Uxbridge Rural District since 1875. In 1911, Yiewsley made ​​independently and obtained the status of Urban District. West Drayton was incorporated in 1929 after the Uxbridge Rural District was dissolved. 1930 was followed by the incorporation of Harmondsworth, which had previously belonged to the Staines Rural District. The total area of the Urban District grew by almost seven times.

With the establishment of the administrative region of Greater London in 1965 was created from the merger of the Municipal Borough of Uxbridge and the Urban Districts Hayes and Harlington, Ruislip - Northwood and Yiewsley and West Drayton London Borough of Hillingdon.
