Yitzhak Peretz (politician born 1936)

Yitzhak Peretz (Hebrew יצחק פרץ born June 3, 1936 in Casablanca, French North Africa in present-day Morocco, † 17 October 2002) was an Israeli politician and member of the Knesset.

Life

Peretz immigrated in 1950 to Israel, where he attended the Agricultural University Mikveh Israel and later the Bar - Ilan University. He then worked from 1957 to 1963 in Rishon LeZion as a teacher.

In 1963 he was elected as an alderman of Dimona, and from 1971 to 1974 was mayor of the city. For the Likud, he then sat from 1974 to 1988 as a deputy in the Knesset. Peretz was 28 June 1977 to 15 January 1979 Deputy in the 9th and 18th parliamentary term government Minister of Economy and Trade under Prime Minister Menachem Begin.
