Yivliminare Cami

The Fluted Minaret, Mosque is a mosque situated in Antalya ( Turkey). The name comes from the Broken Minaret ( Fluted Minaret ). It is also called Ulu Cami.

History

Immediately after the Seljuk conquest of Antalya in 1207 today the mosque Ulu Cami was built on the site, which was probably destroyed during the reign of the Lusignan ( 1361-1373 ). In their place, the current mosque was built according to the obtained donor's inscription 1373.

The Fluted Minaret was probably built during the Seljuk Sultan Kai Kobad I. (maybe 1226/1227 ) and thus still belongs to the older mosque. This minaret has become a symbol of Antalya. The 38 -meter-high minaret is fluted and built of brick in column form. The base is made ​​of stone. The minaret is partially decorated with blue tiles.

The mosque has six domes, resting on 12 pillars supported sheet. In columns and capitals are Roman spolia.

The other buildings of the complex are Madrassah, Zincir Kiran Türbesi ( mausoleum ) and Nigar Hanim Türbesi ( mausoleum ).
