Ylihärmä

Ylihärmä [ Ylihärmä ] is a former municipality in the west of Finland. In early 2009 it was amalgamated with Alahärmä and Kortesjärvi in the city Kauhava.

The Kirchdorf Ylihärmä located 15 kilometers northwest of the city core Kauhava on the river bank Lapuanjoki. In addition, belonged to the municipality Alahärmä the villages Haapoja, Kangas, Keskikunta, Kosola, Pakankylä, Vesiluoma and Yliluoma. The wooden church of the village is crowned by a roof turret with onion dome and was built in 1785-1787 under the direction of Kaappoo Hakola; the free-standing bell tower was built in 1828 designed by Carl Ludwig Engel.
