Yokohama Minatomirai Railway

The Yokohama Kosoku tetsudō K. K. (Japanese横 浜 高速 鉄 道 株式会社, Yokohama Kosoku tetsudō kabushiki - gaisha, dt Yokohama high-speed rail company, Eng. Yokohama Minatomirai Railway Company) is a semi- private consortium that in 1989 by the city of Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture and the private railway company Tōkyō kyuko Dentetsu was founded.

It operates the opened on 1 February 2004 underground Minatomirai line in Yokohama. This has a length of 4.1 km and runs from Yokohama station by the urban development area Minato Mirai 21 by Motomachi Chukagai. Construction began in November 1992. Due to major reconstruction work at the Central Station and other difficulties, it took 11 years and cost 260 billion yen until the line was completed.

In August 1997, the Yokohama Kosoku tetsudō also acquired the 3.4 km long Kodomo -no- Kuni - line connecting the amusement park with the Kodomonokuni Nagatsuta Station.
