Yolanda de Courtenay

Jolante Courtenay (also: Iolanta, Yolande, Yolanda, Violante, Yoles, Hyolenz Capet - Courtenay, * in 1200 in Courtenay (Loiret ), France, † 1233 ) was Queen of Hungary.

Life

She was the daughter of Peter of Courtenay ( * ca 1165/70, † 1219 ), Emperor of the Latin Empire of Constantinople Opel from 1216 to 1217, and his wife Yolanda of Flanders († 1219 ). Father's side she was descended from the noble family of France and Courtenay, a branch line of the Capetians. Mother's side she was descended from the noble family of Flanders.

In February 1215, she married in Székesfehérvár as the second wife of King Andrew II of Hungary (c. 1177, † 1235 ). Its first wife Gertrude of Andechs had been murdered in 1213.

With him he had a daughter, Yolanda of Hungary.

Yolanda and Andrew were buried in the monastery Egreser.
