Yosef Efrati

Joseph Efrati (Hebrew יוסף אפרתי; born February 19, 1897 in Pinsk, † February 8, 1975 ) was an Israeli politician, the deputy as a deputy of the Mapai Minister of Agriculture of 9 July 1952 to 24 December 1952.

Life

He attended a cheder and emigrated in 1914 to Palestine, where he graduated from an agricultural school in Petah Tikva. In 1917, he sat down with a group in Be'er Tuwjia (Hebrew בְּאֵר טוֹבִיָּה ) in Kiryat Mal'achi. From 1923 to 1925 he worked at an agricultural research at Ben Shemen (Hebrew בֶּן שֶׁמֶן ) at Lod. In 1925 he moved to Gewa.

Policy

He was a member of HaPoel HaZair and later Mapai. He was one of the leaders of the settlement movement Merkas HaChakla'i (Hebrew המרכז החקלאי ). In the elections of 1949 he arrived on the election list of Mapai in the Knesset. Re-elected in 1951, he was appointed on July 9, 1952 Deputy Minister of Agriculture. In all legislatures, where he was a member of the Knesset, Efrati was a member of the Finance Committee. In the elections of 1955, 1959, and 1961 he was re-elected. In 1965 he lost his seat in the Knesset.
