You're My Best Friend (Queen song)

You're My Best Friend is a song by British rock band Queen, written by their bass player John Deacon. It was established in 1975 for the album A Night at the Opera and published in 1976 as a single. The song also appeared on the 1979 live album Live Killers and 1981 on the compilation album Greatest Hits.

Recording

Deacon wrote the song for his wife Veronica Tetzlaff. In the studio recording he plays alongside the E -Bass, a Wurlitzer electric piano, its typical sound shapes the song. Used during live performances Freddie Mercury a wing instead of the electric pianos. The pop ballad is written in C major and uses a moderate 4/4 beat.

Music Video

A music video was filmed in April 1976 by Bruce Gowers. It shows the band in a large ballroom with thousands of candles and a huge chandelier. One sees Deacon at a piano.

Queen about the song

In a live interview on December 24, 1977 Tom Browne on BBC Radio 1, the band gave information on the use of electric pianos for recording:

"Well, Freddie did not like the electric piano, so I took it home and began to learn it. Basically, it's the song that was created when I learned to play the piano. It was written on this instrument and it sounds best on it ... "

" I refused to play the damn thing ( the Wurlitzer electric piano ). It is tiny and terrible and I do not like it. Why such things play when you have a beautiful gorgeous wings? No, I think basically what he is trying [ John ] to say it was the desired effect. "
