Yuan Zhen

Yuan Zhen (Chinese元 稹, Pinyin Yuán Zhen; * 779, † 831) was a Chinese poet of the Tang Dynasty.

He lived in Luoyang in Henan Province and was 801-806 with Bai Juyi lecturer at the palace library. After falling out of favor with Emperor Xian Zong, his career was changeable. Yuan Zhen was a good friend Bai Juyis and author of Yingyings biography. 813 he wrote a grave inscription for Du Fu.
