Yuanmou County
The circle Yuanmou (元谋 县, Yuanmou Xian) is part of the Chuxiong Yi Autonomous County, southwest China's Yunnan Province. Yuanmou has an area of 1,803 km ² and around 210,000 inhabitants ( end of 2004).
In Yuanmou fossils of Yuanmou people were discovered. Furthermore, the place was the inspiration for a discovered fossil relatives living here today orangutans in the genus Lufengpithecus called Lufengpithecus yuanmouensis. In addition, Yuanmou is known for its dinosaur fossils - so the sauropod Yuanmousaurus is named after this county.

- Community Jiangbian (江边 乡), 14,802 inhabitants (2000);
- Community Xinhua (新华 乡), 7,616 inhabitants (2000);
- Community Pingtian (平 田乡), 11,173 inhabitants (2000);
- Community Liangshan (凉山 乡), 3,747 inhabitants (2000);
- Community Jiangyi (姜 驿 乡), 13,865 inhabitants ( 2000).
