Yukifumi Murakami

Yukifumi Murakami (Japanese村上 幸 史, Murakami Yukifumi; born December 23, 1979 in Ikina (now Kamijima ), Ochi -gun, Ehime Prefecture) is a Japanese athlete who specializes in the javelin throw.

Sporting successes

In the junior class Murakami won a bronze medal at the World Championships in 1998 already in Annecy, France.

As silver medalist, he returned from the Asian Games 2002 in Busan, South Korea as well as the Asian Games 2006 in Qatar back. Also, the second place went to Murakami at the Asian Championships in Manila in 2003. 2006 Murakami was also Japanese national champion in the javelin.

He celebrated his greatest success to date in 2009, when he was in Berlin with 82.97 meters won the bronze medal in the javelin at the World Athletics Championships in 2009. He had to play in the final Andreas Thorkildsen from Norway only ( 89.59 m ) and the Cuban Guillermo Martínez defeated ( 86.41 m). Already in qualifying Murakami had increased its best performance to 83.10 m.

2009 Murakami won gold at the Asian Championships. At the 2011 World Championships he finished seventh.

At a height of 1.86 m his competition weight is 93 kg.
