Yun Won-chol

Yun Won- chol ( born July 3, 1989) is a North Korean wrestler. He was 2013 World Champion in Greco-Roman Bantamweight

Career

Yun Won- chol began as a teenager in 2004 with the rings. He focuses on the Greco- Roman style. The 1.64 meter tall athlete wrestles in the lightest weight category of the men's wrestling, the bantamweight. He joined the sports club April 25 in Pyongyang. His coach is Choe Hak. He is a military officer.

His debut on the international wrestling mat he gave in 2010 at the Asian Games in Guangzhou / China. He finished there Bantamweight the 7th Place. He reached the same place in May at the 2011 Asian Championships in Tashkent. In the same year he was also employed at the World Championship in Istanbul. He won there over Haapamäki Jani from Finland and Ivan Lizatovic, Croatia, and was defeated in his third fight against Elbek Tachijew from Belarus. As this reached the final, he was able to wrestle in the consolation round, where he first defeated Thomas Rønningen from Norway, in the fight for a bronze medal but lost to Bechan Mankijew from Russia. He finished in 5th place, with which he was qualified for the Olympic Games in London.

At the 2012 Olympics in London, he was also at the start. He lost there but just his first fight against Choi Gyu -jin from South Korea. Since this did not reach the final, he was eliminated and only came on the 15th Place.

In April 2013, Yun Won- chol fought in the Asia Cup in New Delhi with a third place his first medal at an international championship. He defeated Doi Dang Tien, Vietnam, lost again against Choi Gyu -jin and triumphed over Daudrav Sharma from India. Five months later he was world champion bantamweight in Budapest. He defeated on the way to this title Ivan Lizatovic, Luke Höglmeier, Germany, Peter Modos, Hungary, Ivan Tatarinow, Russia, and during the finale, Choi Gyu -jin, against whom he had previously lost forever. It is worth noting the superiority with which he won this title because in his first four victorious battles he scored the impressive score of 29:0. Only against Choi Gyu -jin was his victory with 2-0 rounds and 4:3 points out scarce. In October 2013 Yun Won- chul won in Tehran finally also in the Military World Championship before Hamid Reza Chamesi from Iran.
