Yuriy Dumchev

Yuri Petrovich Eduardo Dumtschew (Russian Юрий Эдуардович Думчев, English transcription Yuriy Dumchev; . * August 5, 1958 in Rossosh ) is a former Russian discus thrower, who competed for the Soviet Union.

At the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980 he finished fifth.

On 29 May 1983, he improved in Moscow the world record by 70 cm to 71.86 m. With this width Dumtschew ranks 4 in the Eternal World Ranking (as of 2010 ).

At the World Athletics Championships 1983 in Helsinki, he left in qualifying. The following year he won in the competitions of friendship, held as a counter-event to the Olympic Games in Los Angeles. In 1988, he finished fourth at the Olympic Games in Seoul.

1980, 1981 and 1988, he became Soviet champions.

Yuri Dumtschew is 2,00 m tall and weighs 125 kg. After he had in 1979 a small role in a movie, in appearance, he regularly since the mid- 1980s as a film actor.
