Playing career

Association

Altıntaş began with the club football in the youth of Köseköy Belediyespor and subsequently joined in 1980 in the youth of Kocaelispor. Here he was discovered for the Turkish U-18 national team and made three games here. In the summer he was accepted into the professional team and quickly fought his way to a permanent place. He played at Kocaelispor four seasons here and managed the leap into the national team.

In the summer of 1984 he moved to Galatasaray. At this time, Galatasaray had lost the connection to the other top teams and had rather the role of follower. After the last championship in the season 1972/73 they tried in vain to these successes to tie. For the upcoming season we undertook surprisingly the retired national coach Jupp, outfitted. This tried with young and untrained players to form a new team. The newly purchased player Altıntaş was one of these players. In his first season, he completed 19 league matches and took his club with the Turkish Football Cup. In his second season he finally made a breakthrough. From then on he was for several years a constant reference within the team. In the season 1985/86 they lost the championship goal difference due to Beşiktaş Istanbul. The next season then succeeded the long-awaited success and they won in 14 years for the first time the championship of the Süper Lig After this success was, outfitted in his resignation and surrendered his coaching position to his assistant coach Mustafa Denizli. This also sat on Altıntaş. The following season they won the championship again, this time with a record score of 90 points. For second-placed Beşiktaş we achieved a points difference of 12 points. In the 1988/89 season they missed far behind the championship. But one made on the international stage sensation. At that time it was common for Turkish teams were eliminated in the European cup competitions in the first two rounds. Galatasaray managed in the European Cup of Champions 1988/89 completely surprising to the semifinals. From the club's history especially the return match against Neuchatel Xamax is regarded as legendary. First, they lost in the second round the first leg 3-0. The return match in Istanbul we won sensational 5-0 and made the quarter- finals of the European Cup of Champions. Here they met the reigning French champions AS Monaco. Again they sat down, surprisingly, by and dropped only from the semi-final against Steaua Bucharest. Altıntaş was played by most of these encounters over the full distance. Despite these successes, the club's management, Denizli decided by the German coach Sigfried Held to replace. This fell far short of expectations and was also Altıntaş often sit on the bench. Thus, the club's management responded one more time and require it to season 1990/91 a second time Mustafa Denizli. Under Denizli Altıntaş came back regularly to missions. The championship is awarded to Beşiktaş, but could win the Turkish Football Cup and the Turkish Football Supercup. The next season they won the Turkish Football Cup again. In the championship, they finished behind in third place in the table. In Europe Cup Winners' Cup 1991/92 we made it to the quarter-finals and was eliminated here, against the eventual Cup winners Werder Bremen. At the end of the club's management responded and extended the contract with Denizli no more time. Instead, a new coach was with Karl -Heinz Feldkamp committed. This rolled their own ideas to the team and replace many seasoned players by young, unknown players. The services of Altıntaş Feldkamp still not renounced and put him in 22 times in the league games a. At season's end came with the winning of the Championship and the Turkish Football Cup again in 1973, the Double. At season's end Feldkamp announced his resignation and was replaced by his assistant coach Reiner Hollmann. This Altıntaş sat right at the start of the season on the bench and put him only sporadically. At season's end, you took the championship again and made it to the UEFA Champions League 1993/94 through to the last eight teams. At season's end Altıntaş either end of his career or a change was suggested.

So moved Altıntaş in summer 1994 again Kocaelispor. Here he played one season, but managed not to jump into the master lineup. So he moved to the end of the season for amateur club Kocaeli Kartepe Belediyespor. Here he played a season and then ended his football playing career.
