Yvan Cournoyer

Yvan Serge " Roadrunner " Cournoyer ( born November 22, 1943 in Drummondville, Quebec ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played from 1963 to 1979 for the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League.

Career

" Roadrunner " they called in Montreal one of the fastest player they ever had with the Canadiens. Yvan Cornoyer had shot in his 16 years in the NHL usually more than 25 goals. In his three seasons, he was captain of the Canadiens. Only Henri Richard played the four seasons more, was allowed to hold more often the Stanley Cup in his hands. Yvan won the Cup 10 times. His strongest playoff season, he played in 1973. This year he scored 15 goals and won the Conn Smythe Trophy for it. Memorable also his appearance at the Summit Series in 1972 when he initiated the game-winning play.

In 1982 he was honored with induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
