Yves Giraud-Cabantous

Yves Giraud - Cabantous ( born October 8, 1904 in Paris, † March 30, 1973 ) was a French racing driver.

Career

Although Yves Giraud - Cabantous 30 years denied race, he could never reach the absolute top. To a large extent it was the fact that he often had to start on inferior car. In 1925 he began his racing career on a Salmson, with the predominantly with smaller French races, he gained experience in the early years. In the 1930s, he concentrated on sports car race, reaching the 24- hour race at Le Mans in 1938 to second place.

After the war he returned to Talbot on the racetracks back, his greatest achievement was the victory at the Grand Prix of Paris in 1948. During the first years of the Formula 1 World Championship he came twice in the points, the fourth place in the British Grand Prix 1950 represents his best result. 1952 and 1953, he played sporadically Formula 1 race at HWM, and until 1955 he raced in Le Mans.

Between 1926 and 1932, 28 cars were completed in his company Yves Giraud - Cabantous. After retiring from racing, he built up a transport company, which he headed until his death in 1973.
