Z. D. Mangoaela

Zakea Dolphin Mangoaela ( born February 1883 in Hohobeng, Cape Province, South Africa, † October 25, 1963 ) was an African writer and folklorist.

Mangoaela was born not far from the border with the former Basutoland. He grew up in Basutoland on, the later Lesotho, where he attended the Basutoland Training College. He is regarded as one of the first authors of South African literature. His most famous work is Lithoko tsa Marena a Basotho ( German: praises of the chiefs of the Basotho ).
