The Zandam station is a through station, the Dutch railway company NS in the western Dutch city of Zaanstad in same district Zaandam.

History

The first station was established in 1869 with the new section between Uitgeest and Zaandam, the railway line Nieuwediep -Amsterdam opened. The present appearance, was the station in 1983 with the opening of the Hemtunnel, this replaced the old bridge over the North Sea Canal. The station consists of four tracks on two central platforms, which are connected by a tunnel.

Location

The station is located in the western district of the municipality of Zaanstad Zaandam. About 500 meters south of the station, begins the Hemtunnel and leads the trains run directly to the station Amsterdam Sloterdijk.
