Lookout on the Zabelstein

The Zabelstein is a mountain in the Steigerwald. It is 489 meters high and provides a striking north-western tip and the boundary of the Steigerwald to the valley. It is located in the unincorporated area of the county Hundelshausen Schweinfurt. The villages thunder village, Wohnau (municipality Knetzgau ) and are Hundelshausen At its foot (municipality Michelau im Steigerwald ).

At the highest point of the stone Zabel is a transmitter with a 61 meter high antenna support, which was formerly used by the U.S. armed forces. Currently it uses the disaster. In addition to the observation tower is the 2008 newly built Lingmann - house, which was built by Steigerwald Gerolzhofen Club in cooperation with the National Forest and is managed by the Steigerwald Club. The house is a popular accommodation hut for hikers. The previously standing on the same spot old house was demolished.
