ZÄ…bki

Ząbki is a city in the powiat Wołomiński in the Masovian Voivodeship, Poland and the seat of the municipality of the same name ( Gmina miejska ).

Geography

Ząbki located ten kilometers north-east of Warsaw.

The city area is 11:13 km ² of which 31% is used for agriculture and 30 % is forested.

History

Ząbki was founded as Wola Ząbkowska and 1580 renamed. 1635 the village was destroyed by a flood. After the Third Partition of Poland Ząbki came to Prussia.

Between 1952-1954 Ząbki was the seat of a rural community and belonged to the Province of Warsaw. 1967 Ząbki was awarded city rights.

From 1975 to 1998 Ząbki belonged to the Province of Warsaw.

Education

The municipality has twelve kindergartens ( Przedszkole ), four primary schools ( szkoła podstawowa ) and three public middle school ( gimnazjum ). A portion of the device is in private or church-run.
