Zabul Province

Zabul ( Pashto / Dari: زابل ) is a province ( velayat ) in the south of Afghanistan on the border with Pakistan. It has 320,000 inhabitants.

Zabul is the only province of Afghanistan, where the Taliban after the invasion of U.S. troops its own governor ( waali ) have designated that is in competition with the members appointed by the central government in Kabul governor.

In April 2003, the Taliban occupied the district of Deh Chopan - i, the Afghan government forces but could get immediately back under their control.

Zabul has an airfield since 2006 in Qalat.
