Zaharira Harifai

Zaharira Harifai, (Hebrew זהרירה חריפאי; born December 12, 1929 in Tel Aviv, British Mandate of Palestine, † January 2, 2013 in Petach Tikva, Israel) was an Israeli actress.

Life

Zaharira Harifai was the daughter of 1922 immigrated from Russia journalists, writers and cultural worker Chaim body Harifai. She grew up in Tel Aviv and at the age of four years, an orphan, since her father died of pneumonia. She attended the Mikveh Israel agricultural school, and then completed her military service in the Palmach and was a radio operator in the Golani Brigade. She then studied acting at the Hadramati, near the Cameri Theater.

After her training, she played at several theaters and was from the early 1960s also sporadically in films such as Sallah - or: Swap daughter against apartment, The Blaumilchkanal and sleep well, sergeant! to see. For her portrayal of Malka, the classic 2007 Jellyfish - Carried by the sea, she was nominated for best supporting actress for the Israeli Film Award Ophir Award.

On January 2, 2013 Harifai died at the age of 83 years to her cancer at a hospital in Petach Tikva. Until her death, she was married to the writer Solomon Kan. Their daughter Aya is active as a director and actress. Her older brother, the military judge Ben- Shahar Harifai already died in 2004.
