Name interpretation

The name could have arisen from a nickname, as one of the ancestors tame: was called ( Middle High German zam ). It is also conceivable connection with the Tame beech; according to the dictionary of the Brothers Grimm in Alsace dialect for beech, whose bark was used for tanning (name with respect to place of residence or to the tanning trade ). Also an interpretation as a designation of origin is possible, such as, inter alia, from the place Zahmen or specifically for the Swiss Family Tame Andrist in the Bernese Alps.
