Zahra Rahnavard

Zahra Rahnavard (Persian زهرا رهنورد, actually Zohre Kasemi, born 1945 ) is an Iranian sculptor, political scientist and wife of Iranian presidential candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi.

Life

Zahra Rahnavard studied at the Art University of Tehran, where she met her future husband, Mir Hossein Mousavi. She received her PhD in 1976 also in political science and moved over to the U.S., but returned before the Iranian revolution in 1979, returned to Iran. 1998 Rahnavard was on a proposal Mustafa Moins Rector of Alzahra University, the only Women's University in Iran, but was dismissed by President Ahmadinejad after he took office. Today she teaches at the University of Tehran, at the Faculty of Fine Arts. Rahnavard advised the former president Mohammed Khatami during his term of office, they also wrote 15 books and is the mother of three daughters.

Political action

Rahnavard supports her husband in public when his candidacy for the presidency and enjoys high reputation in the academic female elite of Iran. On May 30, 2009 I -Hossein Mousavi was originally supposed to speak in front of 15 000 people in Tehran's Azadi arena. After her husband was arrested in Isfahan, Rahnavard announced that it would deliver the speech. They raised issues of women's equality, freedom of thought and speech as well as the suppression of the Society, and especially the youth by the guardians of public morals. In this context, they also criticized the policy of the incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Zahra Awards Rahn brother Shapur Kasemi, was arrested after the Iranian presidential election in 2009. The 62 -year-old telecommunications expert is in custody, Rahnavard, to put pressure on her husband.
