Zaid ibn Shaker

Zaid ibn Shaker (Arabic زيد بن شاكر, DMG Zaid b Sakir, . Born September 4, 1934 in Amman, † 30 August 2002 in Amman ) was several times Prime Minister of Jordan (13 July 1976 to 19 December 1979, 28 August., 1980 to January 10, 1984, December 4, 1989 to 19 June 1991).

The cousin of King Hussein I was more long than twelve years the Supreme Commander of the Jordanian Armed Forces and had the rank of Field Marshal held. In the Six-Day War of 1967, he led the armed forces of his country.

In 1951 he began studying at Victoria College in Alexandria. In 1955 he continued his education at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. In 1964, a study in the USA. Zaid ibn Shaker spoke fluent Arabic, English, French and Spanish.

In 1957/58 he was assistant to the military attaché at the Jordanian Embassy in London. From 1964 to 1970 he was commander of a tank brigade and an armored division in the rank of colonel or brigadier general. On March 5, 1973, he was chief of staff and adviser to the king. In June 1987, he was appointed marshal.
