Zakęcie

Zakęcie ( German Erkelsdorf ) is a town in the municipality Otyń in powiat Nowosolski the Polish Lubusz Voivodeship.

Geographical location

Zakęcie is located about two kilometers southwest of Otyń ( German - Wartenberg ), five kilometers north- west of Nowa Sól ( Neusalz on the Oder ) and 17 kilometers south-east of Zielona Góra ( Grünberg in Silesia).

History

Zakęcie was in 1516 the first mentioned and was called at that time Eckerstorff. In 1791 the name was changed to Erkelsdorf. In Erkelsdorf there were 1844 496 inhabitants, 55 houses, an agricultural and a Catholic school, which was opened in 1801. Erkelsdorf had no train station, though there were two rail links. A railway line ran from Wroclaw to Grünberg and was built in 1871; the other route is from the years 1903-1907 and led by Neusalz according to wool stone. The Catholic chapel was built in 1913.

The place had in 1933 445 inhabitants and in 1939 428 inhabitants. He belonged until 1945 to the district Frey town in Lower Silesia.
