Žalany

Žalany ( German Schallan ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located seven kilometers south-east of the center of Teplice and belongs to Okres Teplice.

Geography

Žalany is located on the right side of the Bílina on Žalanský creek on the north- western edge of the Bohemian Uplands. To the north rises the 273 m high Chotyně the desert fortress paradise in the south of Milešovka located ( 836 m). Through the village leads the state road 8 / E 55

Neighboring towns are Rtyně nad Bílinou in the north, and Vrahožily Řehlovice in the northeast, Habrovany in the east, Zim and Bořislav the southeast, Lelov in the south, and Bukovice Kostomlaty pod Milešovkou the southwest, Bžany in the west and Hradiště and velvety to the northwest.

History

Žalany was first documented in 1400.

The municipality consists of the villages Žalany Černčice ( Tschentschitz ) Lelov ( Lellowa ) and Žalany ( Schallan ). The municipality is divided into the Katastralbezirke Černčice u Zalan and Žalany.
