Zamzam–Sheriff–Phillips syndrome

The Zazam - Sherriff -Phillips syndrome is a rare congenital malformation of the eyes in combination with mental retardation.

It is a hereditary cause suspected. The syndrome follows an autosomal recessive inheritance and includes aniridia (absence of the iris ), dislocation of the eye lens, malformation of the upper incisors and a mental disability or retardation ( mental retardation ). Treatment is not known. Education, training, career choice and independent living of those affected are severely limited. The aniridia and the dislocation of the eye lens lead to severe visual impairment. Because of the mental disability, patients can not live independently.
