Žandov

Žandov ( German Sandau ) is a city of Okres Ceska Lipa in the Liberec Region in the north of the Czech Republic. It lies in the valley of the river Ploučnice ( Polzen ) on the road from Ceska Lipa ( Czech Leipa ) to Decin ( Děčín ).

History

The place has been inhabited for more than 700 years and has always been a center of the region. To 1386 he was first mentioned. In the 15th century, he was raised under the rule of Wartenberg to the city and over the centuries, the character of the city received. From the mid 19th century the village belonged to the district court or to the district Bohemian Bohemian Lipa Lipa.

The municipality is divided into the Katastralbezirke Dolni Police, Heřmanice u Žandova, Radeč u Horni Police, Valteřice u Žandova, Velka Javorská and Žandov u České Lípy.
