Zanjan, Iran

Zanjan (Persian زنجان, Zanjān ) (also: Send Chan) is a city in northwestern Iran with a population of just under 400,000 (calculated as of 2010). It is the seat of the administration of the province of Zanjan and is located 298 km northwest of Tehran.

From May 1850 to January 1851 was the center of a Babaaufstandes Zanjan, was tried in which, among other things, to storm the local prison to liberate prisoners who were imprisoned for tax evasion.

In the last days of the regime, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the traders of the bazaar of Zanjan laid in protest against the lack of promised reforms to the operation of the bazaar for 45 days still.
