Zaqatala District

Zaqatala is a rayon in the north of Azerbaijan. The capital of the district is the city Zaqatala. In the south of the district of Georgia is bordered in the north of Dagestan, Russia.

Geography

The district has an area of 1,348 km ² and is located on the slopes of the Greater Caucasus, mainly in the valley Ganikh - Arichay. There seven rivers flow through the region, which is flat in the south. The climate is temperate to subtropical, about half of the district is forested. Unlike the rest of Azerbaijan mulberry trees are still widely used in Zaqatala.

Population
