Zara Dampney

Zara Dampney ( born June 10, 1986 in Poole) is a British beach volleyball player.

Career

Dampney took in 2006 with Lucy Boulton participated in the World Youth Championship in Mysłowice. The following year, she formed a duo with Shauna Mullin and she completed her first Open tournaments. In 2008 she came back temporarily with Boulton together and reached best result a 17th place in Guarujá. 2009 played with Mullin and Dampney again completed her first Grand Slam. In the Kristiansand Open Mullin / Dampney came in ninth for the first time in the top ten of a FIVB tournament. 2010 was the 17th place in Shanghai the best result for the British duo.

The following year, Mullin / Dampney managed at the World Championships in Rome as a third of their preliminary round group a place in the main round. There she was defeated in the first game of the later finalists Walsh / May- Treanor from USA. In 2012 she received the starting place of the host for the Olympic tournament in London. When playing at home, they defeated in the first group match the Canadian duo Lessard / Martin, but remained in the other two preliminary round games as well as in the Lucky- Loser- round without dropping a set profit.

As Mullin after the Olympic tournament ended her career, Dampney plays since 2013 with Boulton. As a new coach they hired the New Zealand beach volleyball player Kirk Pitman, to whom she is engaged at the same time. At the 2013 World Championships in Stare Jabłonki Boulton / Dampney eliminated from winless after the first round.
