Zdeněk Rygel

Zdeněk Rygel (* March 1, 1951 in Ostrava ) is a former Czech football player.

Club career

Rygel began playing football at BANIK Michálkovice, with 15 years, he moved to Banik Ostrava. First Rygel played in midfield, then in defense. Among his first assignments in the first Czechoslovak league of defenders came in the 1972 season / 73rd

With BANIK Rygel 1976, 1980 and 1981 won the Czechoslovak Cup, the 1978 Czechoslovak Cup. After 257 first division matches and seven goals Rygel moved to Cypriot association EPA Larnaca. After one season he returned to Czechoslovakia and joined for two years the then second division club Zbrojovka Brno.

Rygel played in the years 1974 and 1975 a total of four times for the Czechoslovakian national team.

Olympic Team

Zdeněk Rygel was 1980 Czechoslovak selection, in Moscow won the gold medal at the Olympic Games. The defender played in the opening match against Colombia and in the final against the GDR, in between he was injured.
