Zdeněk Štěpánek

Zdenek Stepanek ( born September 22, 1896 in Estate of Tvoršovice at Benešov, † June 20, 1968 in Prague) was a Czech actor, playwright, director and screenwriter. Stepanek was a member of the Prague National Theatre and played on the stage and in film.

Life

As the grandson of the stage creators, director of the Estates Theatre and playwright John Nepomuk Štěpánek he came after seven months of pregnancy to the world. The vocational school, he completed shortly before the First World War and then played in various touring companies. In 1915 he volunteered for war. On the eastern front, he fell into Russian captivity and returned only in 1920.

He was the father of actress Jana Štěpánková, the actor Martin Stepanek and Petr Stepanek and theater director Kristina Taberyová.
