Zdob și Zdub

Zdob şi Zdub ( Cyrillic spelling: Здоб ши Здуб, also Zdob si Zdub or Zdob shi Zdub called ) is a music group from Moldova. It exists since 1994 and was founded by Roman Iagupov, Mihai Gîncu and Anatol Pugaci in Străşeni, a suburban community of Chişinău. The name is an onomatopoeia of a drum beat.

Their music is a mix of, among other things, elements of rock, punk rock and hip hop, combined with the native folklore. Thus already appeared as the opening act internationally known bands like Rage Against the Machine or Biohazard.

Their lyrics range from socially critical content through stories of life and everyday life, to humorous and comical lyrics.

History

1994

When the band was formed in 1994, they still appeared in different formations. Your initial sound could be more likely to associate with the hardcore punk, the lyrics of her songs were mostly in Russian. The group played their first time at an event called "10 years after Chernobyl " in Chisinau. In November 1994 they recorded their first demo tape and played on the " learning to swim 1" festival in Moscow, where they performed for the first time under the name of " Zdob şi Zdub ".

1996

In July 1996, they performed as the opening act for Rage Against the Machine on the " learning to swim 2 " festival with the songs " В доме моем " ( "V dome moiom ", " In my house " ) in Russian and " Hardcore Moldovenesc " ( " Moldovans Hardcore " ) in Romanian on. The song " Hardcore Moldovenesc " was later a hit and was instrumental in the popularity of the group. Zdob şi Zdub In the same year signed a contract with the Russian record company " FeeLee " and released their debut album " Hardcore Moldovenesc ".

1998

Around 1998 began to change their sound in itself, the songs were provided with elements of native folklore, the texts presented mainly in Romanian.

1999

In May 1999, their second album under the name " Tabara noastra " ( "Our Camp" ) was published. On 14 August 1999 Zdob şi Zdub played on the Russian MTV - Party, which was held on Red Square in Moscow, together with Russian bands like Gorky Park and IFK and the American Red Hot Chili Peppers.

2000

In October 2000, the Group recorded a cover version of the song " Видели ночь " ( " Videli still ", " We saw the night ") of the Russian band Kino on. With this song, she participated in the tribute album " КИНОпробы " ( " KINOproby ", " movie samples") for the late poet, actor and frontman of the group cinema, Viktor Tsoi, in part. The cover was on the whole territory of the Commonwealth of Independent States to be a hit and held during the year in many countries of the CIS number one on the charts. There about half a million of tribute albums have been sold. The band had been, as a result, during this time a lot of guest appearances by the St. Petersburg music magazine " Fuzz " award as the best live band of the year 2000 in Russia.

The band toured extensively, making this still, mainly in Russia, Ukraine, Moldova and Romania, but also in Germany (1998 ), the Netherlands (2000) and more recently also in Serbia, Hungary and Italy.

2001

On 31 January 2001 Zdob şi Zdub occurred together with the musician and director Emir Kusturica and his " No Smoking Orchestra " in Moscow. On 12 October 2001 " Б -2" ("B -2") Club was the album " Agroromantica " which means about as much as the "Land romance ", presented to the public in Moscow. The video for her song " Bună Dimineata! 2003

2004

In July 2004, the album " 450 de oi" reached the 12th place in the World Music Charts Europe. In October 2004, the group worked in her studio on a new album which should be devoted to the 10th anniversary of the band. 2005

On 26 February 2005, the band won a national competition, which it was entitled to Moldova on its first participation in the Euro Vision Song Contest with the song Bunica bate toba (Cyrillic: Буникa бaте тoбa, also called Boonika, in German: " Granny Strikes the to represent drum " ) in Kiev. 2009

In 2009, the group ( " Na rechke, na rechke ", " On the river, on the river " ) released the song " На речке, на речке " for the project " СОЛЬ " ( " Solj ", " salt" ) on the Russian radio station " Наше Радио " ( " Nashe Radio ," " Our Radio" ).
