Zdounky

Zdounky ( German Zdounek ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located ten kilometers south-west of Kroměříž and belongs to Okres Kroměříž.

Geography

Zdounky is located on the right side of the Kotojedka at the northern foot of the mountain Mars. To the southwest is followed across the valley to the mountain Littentschitzer country. South of the town is the highest elevation of the Martian mountains, the Brdo. In Zdounky the State Road 428 between Morkovice - Slížany and Stare Mesto crosses with the 432 between Kroměříž and Kyjov.

Neighboring towns are Nětčice in the north, Šelešovice, Skržice and Soběsuky in the northeast, Cvrčovice in the east, Divoky in the south, Těšánky the southwest, Troubky in the west and Zborovice in the northwest.

History

The first mention of Zdounky dates from the year 1298 with the name de Noneken and since 1358 the city was designated as a market. Stefan von Holstein and Wartnau, the festivals Zdounek owned since 1406, was a supporter of King Sigismund and opponents of the Hussites. On her train to Kroměříž destroyed by the Hussites in 1423 the market stains including festivals. Until 1480 Zdounek belonged to the Holsteiners, then made ​​several changes of ownership until 1523 Wenzel von Zerotin on Buchlov acquired the possession. 1564 were the new lords of Zoubek of Zdětín Zdounky. Kateřina Eliska Zoubková bequeathed her property in 1635 to the Jesuits. After the secularization Zdounek fell in 1785 to the religious foundation from which it acquired in 1806 the Count Lamberg.

After the abolition of patrimonial Zdounek received its independence in 1850 and became the seat of a district court in the political district Kremsier. The castle passed in 1889 to Maria Josepha von Lamberg and her husband Frederick Arthur von Thurn und Taxis on. Next owner was their daughter Marie married Countess Strachwitz and remained until the expropriation of Hugo Friedrich von Strachwitz in 1948, family-owned.

After the Second World War, the city lost its status as a market and has since become a village.

The municipality consists of the villages Zdounky Cvrčovice ( Barbecue Village ), Divoky ( Diwok ) Lebedov ( Lebedau ) Nětčice ( Nietschitz ) Těšánky (small Tieschans ) and Zdounky ( Zdounek ).

Attractions

  • Zdounky Castle, former seat of the Strachwitz family.
  • Parish Church of the Holy Trinity, the original Gothic structure was built before 1366 and was devastated in 1423 during the Hussite Wars. 1570 was the tower cultivation. In the 18th century the church was rebuilt.
