Zebulon R. Shipherd

Zebulon Rudd Shipherd (* November 15, 1768 in Granville, New York, † November 1, 1841 in Moriah, New York) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1813 and 1815 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Zebulon Rudd Shipherd was born during the British colonial period in Granville in Washington County. He completed his preliminary studies. He then studied law. After receiving his license to practice law, he began to practice in Granville. Politically, he was a member of the Federalist Party.

In the congressional elections of 1812, for the 13th Congress, he was in the twelfth electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Arunah Metcalf after March 4, 1813. He retired after the March 3, 1815 out of the Congress.

After his time he took Congress in Granville resume his duties as a lawyer on. Between 1819 and 1841 he was a trustee at Middlebury College in Middlebury (Vermont ). He retired in 1830 after Moriah in Essex County, where he died on November 1, 1841. His body was then buried in the Moriah Corners Cemetery.
