Zeeman (chain store)

Zeeman is a cheap textile chain with about 1,200 stores in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France and Luxembourg and around 70 million customers per year.

History

The first store was opened in January Zeeman in Alphen in March 1967. First, it was a kind of supermarket for clothes. Due to good sales soon a second store was opened. The distribution center is still in Alphen aan den Rijn in the Netherlands.

1999 January Zeeman pulled back from the daily business and gave it into the hands of ex- Kijkshop director Paul Schouwenaar. Schouwenaar left the operation in September 2006 and was replaced by Bart Karis January 2007. Zeeman is still the owner of the company.

Appearance

The logo, decorated in blue, white and yellow, depicts a sailor (Dutch Zeeman ). The basic range consists predominantly of textiles and clothing as well as a changing assortment of non- textiles. The garments are like a loose and open market in metal baskets.
