Zeev Suraski
Zeev Suraski (Hebrew זאב סורסקי ) is an Israeli software developer and has been working since 1997 on the PHP project. During his tenure in the Web Development Department of Netvision, Israel's largest ISP, is Suraski made familiar with PHP / FI, and decided to use it, on which he worked with Andi Gutmans Technion University in a Web Project.
During their work on the project they kept coming across bugs and the limits of PHP / FI 2.0. They decided to suspend the project and PHP together with some of the common modules to reprogram. This was the foundation for PHP 3
Suraski and Gutmans then developed the Zend Engine - the scripting language behind PHP 4 also designed other important PHP 4 components, such as the server abstraction layer and support multithreading. Zeev Suraski is the co-founder and CTO of Zend Technologies.
Gutmans and Suraskis work on PHP core was repeatedly honored:

- Nominated for the 1999 GNU Free Software Award
- Candidates for the 1998 CNET Web Innovators Award
- 1999 LinuxWorld Editor's Choice Awards
- Technion award for University 's most creative project in 1997
- Co-winner ( with ASP developers ) of the Web Tools Award of Web Techniques Magazine
