Zemětice

Zemětice ( German Semietitz, also Zemetitz ) is a municipality with 263 inhabitants in the Czech Republic. It is located eleven kilometers west of Prestice at the Merklínka and belongs to Okres Plzeň -jih. The land area is 626 ha

Geography

Zemětice is located 375 m above sea level. M. in the Valley of Merklínka in Pilsen hills. Through the village leads the state road 182 between Stod and Merklín. Located north-east Stauweiher Dražský fishpond serves as a swimming pond.

Neighboring towns are Čelákovy and Chalupy in the north, Dolni Lažany in the northeast, Soběkury in the east, and Merklín Bijadla in the south, Horni Kamenice, Dolni Kamenice and Vytůň in the west and Holýšov in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of Zemětice from the year 1115 has proven to be a forgery of the monastery Kladruby. This date is confirmed in an authentic document from the year 1239. Until 1309 the village monastic possession remained, followed by the pledge to Břetislavova of giant mountain in return for its protection of the monastic estates to Prestice. Later, the village came as pledge Chlumčanský on Přestavlky. During this time a stronghold, the desert was made after 1544 with the laying of the noble seat of the Zikmund Chlumčanský after Bijadla arose. In the 17th century Zemětice part of the manorial Merklín. After the replacement of the patrimonial place in 1850 was a separate municipality. 1920 402 people lived in the village.
