Zhang Jue

Zhang Jiao (Chinese张角/张角, Pinyin Zhang Jiǎo ) or Zhang Jue (Pinyin Zhang Jue ) was the leader of the uprising of the Yellow Turbans at the time of the late Eastern Han Dynasty in China. He is said to have been a grandson of Zhang Daoling, the founder of Tianshi sect.

Zhang Jiao was a follower of Taoism. He assumed the title of Great teacher and led the movement of the Yellow Turbans with his brothers Zhang Bao and Zhang Liang. His project was called the Heavenly way or path of peace. The Yellow Turbans rebelled against the amount of taxes of the Imperial family and took in 184 a revolt that swept the entire kingdom. The Emperor Ling acted quickly by greatly expanded the powers of the generals and provincial governors. However, this also led to a decentralization of power. Within the next ten years were gradually suppressed after the uprisings by various generals and warlords and defeated their leader.

Although Zhang Jiao should have possessed, according to legend curative and magical powers, he himself died from a disease.
