Zhang Li (table tennis)

Zhang Li - also Chang Li (Chinese张立, Pinyin Zhang Li; May 3, 1951 in Shandong, People's Republic of China) is a Chinese table tennis player. In the 1970s, she won four titles at the World Championships.

Career

In the 1970s, Zhang Li participated in all five World Cups. They won with the Chinese women's team in 1975, 1977 and 1979 the title. In 1979, she was also world champion in doubles with Zhang Deying. There are also three silver medals, namely 1975 and 1977 in the singles, in the final where she was defeated in each case against the North Korean Pak Yung -sun ( on the instructions they had for political reasons, the final intentionally lose ), and 1973 with the team. Bronze she won in 1973 in singles, 1975 Mixed with Liang Geliang and 1977 in a double with Ge Xinai.

Also at the Asian Championships, she was repeatedly successful. Here she won the title in 1974 in a double with Zheng Huaiying, 1976 in singles and in 1978 with the team. Three times she failed only in the finale, twice in the semifinals.

In the ITTF World Ranking Zhang Li took from December 1974 to January 1979 second place.

After the end of their active careers Zhang Li worked as a trainer for about Gao Jun.

Family

Zhang Li is married to the multiple world champion Li Zhenshi. With him she has the daughter of Li Nan, who also is a world leader.
